The FAPC and the Institute of Food Technologists-Oklahoma section are pleased to hold its annual Research Symposium during OSU Research Week.
The symposium will include oral and poster presentations of research conducted at the FAPC and OSU and a keynote address featuring topics pertinent to the food and agricultural industries.
Abstract Submission
Deadline Dec. 6
Submit abstracts to mandy.gross@okstate.edu. Please specify if you are participating in the oral category or poster category.

Presentation Requirements
Posters are to be 48 inches wide by 36 inches tall. Oral presentations are 10 minutes with a 5 minute question and answer period.

Emerging Food Safety Issues and My Research Directions - Presentation Slides

Dr. Dinesh Babu is an assistant professor in the Department of Toxicology, University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM). At the college of Pharmacy, Dr. Babu teaches food safety and toxicology, methods of food microbiology and toxicology and introduction to food science courses. His ongoing research studies include understanding of the therapeutic and health benefits of natural products (polyphenols) and food ingredients on human health in fields of food toxicology, food microbiology, immunology and molecular biology.

Delivering Lipophilic Food Antimicrobials in Emulsions - Presentation Slides

Kanika Bhargava is an assistant professor in food science at University of Central Oklahoma. Kanika’s research interests include development of novel food products, processing and preservation technologies to ensure health and food safety. Current research projects in her lab focus on application of essential oil nano-emulsion for their antimicrobial efficacy in various food models; synergistic effect of these emulsions with traditional antimicrobials against Methicillin-Resistant S. aureus (MRSA) and development of lentil-based probiotic products.
