(Stillwater, Okla. – April 2, 2012) Oklahoma State University’s Robert M. Kerr Food & Agricultural Products Center is partnering with University Dining Services and the Made in Oklahoma Coalition to celebrate April as Made in Oklahoma month.

“We want to rally the community to support Made in Oklahoma products, especially during the month of April,” said Sharra Martin, MIO Coalition market development coordinator.

In celebration, University Dining Services is hosting the third annual Made in Oklahoma Day at OSU on April 10 in the Student Union Atrium from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“Various Made in Oklahoma companies will give out complimentary samples of their products,” said Andrea Graves, FAPC business and marketing specialist. “The vendors will provide samples of products including meat, desserts, beverages and condiments.”

The MIO Coalition represents more than 30 Oklahoma food manufacturers statewide. Participating companies and organizations include Griffin Foods, Shawnee Milling Company, Vinyard Fruit & Vegetable Co., Chef’s Requested, Bar-S, Lopez Foods, Suan’s Foods, Natural Water Company, MIO Coalition, FAPC, ECO-OSU and University Dining Services.

“These companies offer great products locally,” Graves said. “Made in Oklahoma Day on the OSU campus is a great way to share information about Oklahoma products available.”

University Dining Services promotes sustainability and union of the local community and dining on campus. Throughout the month of April, Made in Oklahoma products will be integrated into campus dining areas.

“It’s important to make students aware that Oklahoma really has a creative industry and rich heritage for entrepreneurship,” said Terry Baker, dining services director.
