AG 1011 Student Academic Mentors (SAMs)
AG 1011 is the freshmen orientation course for students in the CASNR that meets during the first eight weeks of the fall semester. AG 1011 SAMs assist with the AG 1011 freshmen orientation course by serving as mentors and group discussion facilitators to small groups of students. Through this leadership role, returning students have the opportunity to assist new students with their transition into OSU and CASNR by answering questions and providing guidance from a student’s perspective. AG 1011 SAMs also assist the course professor with class activities, announcements, group activities and facility tours. AG 1011 SAMs attend a mentor training prior to the beginning of the fall semester, communicate weekly with the professor and graduate teaching assistants about course responsibilities and student progress, and coordinate their own class schedules to allow them to attend the AG 1011 course section in which their assigned small group is enrolled.
