CASNR Roundup to highlight college clubs and organizations

Oklahoma State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources will hold its annual CASNR Roundup Wednesday, August, 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wes Watkins Center.

Oklahoma State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources will hold its annual CASNR Roundup Wednesday, August, 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wes Watkins Center.

College and departmental clubs, organizations and competitive teams will be participating in Roundup with information, giveaways and sign-up sheets. Current club members, advisers and alumni also will be available to visit attendees and answer questions.

“With more than 60 clubs and organizations in CASNR, there is something for every student,” said Steve Damron, CASNR assistant dean. “We strongly encourage students to become involved in organizations within the college, and Roundup is the perfect opportunity to expose them to the diversity of clubs offered.”

Industry networking, leadership skills, student and peer connection and faculty interaction are just a few benefits students will experience by joining student organizations, Damron continued.

Jointly hosted by the CASNR Alumni Board and CASNR Student Council, the event provides a relaxed, welcoming way for students to explore various opportunities for involvement within CASNR.

“The CASNR Student Council understands involvement in organizations can be vital to students’ success while at OSU,” said Dillon Johnson, CASNR Student Council president. “Our goal for Roundup is that each student leaves with a sense of community and connection.”

Alumni board members assist with the planning and preparation of the event, and they also attend in order to engage and connect with students.

Damron said the alumni board is eager to shower participating students with food, fun and a warm welcome to the “CASNR Family.”
