Shannon Angle (fourth from left) and Jon Marc Holt (fourth from right) were recently named the 2017 CASNR Early Career Achievement Award winners at the CASNR Scholarships and Awards Banquet on March 30.

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Alumni Board recently honored Shannon Angle and Jon Marc Holt as 2017 Early Career Achievement Award winners at the 2017 CASNR Scholarships and Awards Banquet.

The award is selected by the CASNR Alumni Board of Directors to honor outstanding young alumni who have excelled early in their careers.

Shannon Angle, finance director for Koch Ag and Energy Solutions’ global fertilizer business in Wichita, Kansas, was recognized as an Early Career Achievement Award winner.

Originally from Amorita, Okla., Angle graduated from OSU in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and accounting.

Angle has been with Koch since 2002, and works to provide the finance and accounting support for conducting business in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Uruguay, France, United Kingdom, China, Singapore and Australia to support more than 15 million metric tons of fertilizer per year.

“I am humbled and honored to receive the CASNR Alumni Early Career Achievement Award and to be recognized by the CASNR Alumni Board,” Angle said. “Having the opportunity to participate and to create value in the agriculture industry each day is a blessing.”

Prior to her current position, Angle previously held multiple roles at Koch. She also led Koch’s OSU campus recruiting for six years.

“My CASNR undergraduate experience provided me the education, experience, guidance, mentorship and strong professional network which prepped me for full-time employment and success after graduation,” Angle said. “The faculty, staff and administration of CASNR made a positive impact on me from the first day I stepped on campus, and this connection continues today.”

Jon Marc Holt, senior operations manager inbound for Target Corporation in Midlothian, Texas, was recognized as an Early Career Achievement Award winner.

“It is an honor to be recognized by CASNR,” Holt said. “Since being notified about being selected for this prestigious award, I have reflected a lot on my experiences at OSU and specifically in CASNR.”

Holt has been with Target for 13 years while maintaining a 20-sow show pig operation. He works to use data and make appropriate decisions to drive profits for both his career at Target and with Holt Livestock.

Recently Holt has worked to save Target $60 million in transportation cost by developing a mechanical and automation system enhancement in partnership with lead engineers.

“The uniqueness of the CASNR staff that continues to resonate with me today is that everyone was willing to help you succeed if you were willing to put forth the effort,” Holt said. “I am not successful because I am the smartest person in the room, but because of what was instilled into me from my family growing up in western Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University.
