Nick Theos, a founding member of the Public Lands Council and active supporter of the livestock industry, passed away on April 11th, 2013, at the age of 92. The Theos family established the Nick Theos PLC Scholarship Program in his memory, ensuring that young professionals are able to attend the Public Lands Council Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. each year.
The one of a kind program allows college students with an interest in regulatory policy surrounding the public lands ranching industry an opportunity to learn about current legislative issues in our nation’s Capitol. Selected scholars meet members of Congress, attend meetings with agency officials, and hear from the leading experts and influencers in the industry.
Today, PLC offers two Nick Theos scholarships that include a $250 stipend to help cover travel and meal expenses, complimentary hotel accommodations on Capitol Hill, and complimentary conference registration to attend the 2018 PLC Spring Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., April 10 - 12.
Applicants should have a resume along with two signed letters of recommendation prepared to submit with the application.
Applications are due February 9, 2018.
PLC represents public lands ranchers in Washington, D.C. Since 1968, PLC has worked with Congress and the federal land management agencies to maintain a stable business environment in which livestock producers can conserve the West and feed the nation and world.
