Congressman Frank Lucas has represented Oklahoma's Third Congressional District since 1994. The Third District is one of the most culturally, socially, and ethnically diverse in the nation. It includes all portions of 32 counties and stretches from Oklahoma’s panhandle across to Osage County in Northeast Oklahoma and down to Jackson County in Southwest Oklahoma. The Third Congressional district takes up almost half the state's land mass.
Congressman Lucas is a fifth generation Oklahoman whose family has lived and farmed in western Oklahoma for over 100 years. He operates a farm and cattle ranch in Roger Mills County in far western Oklahoma, where he lives with his wife, Lynda, and three children. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1982 with a degree in Agricultural Economics.
Lucas serves on three U.S. House committees. He is the chair of the House Agriculture Committee, and also serves on House Committee on Financial Services and on the House Committee on Science and Technology.
The Frank D. Lucas Policy Internship is designed to enable students from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) to work in the United States House of Representatives on policy issues associated with Congressman Lucas’ committee responsibilities.
