Course instruction will be led by a dedicated team of Iowa State University veterinary students. You will be learning in a "classroom" setting surrounded by a lively rainforest, which also lies along Rio La Suerte, a beautiful flowing river! The small and large animal topics that are covered in lecture will be practiced during a variety of hands-on lab activities. Some of these activities include practicing restraint and blood draws on small animals and large animals, as well bovine palpations, equine dental examinations, and discussions on common maladies that are seen in domestic animals in third world countries.

At our spay/neuter clinic, you will hone your new skills by assisting in pre and postoperative procedures. Veterinarians will direct the surgeries, and we will also do our best to ensure that students are able to watch, and possibly assist. This should be an absolutely fantastic experience for all of you. Our hope is that you have fun and leave Costa Rica with practical veterinary knowledge, invaluable experience, and exciting stories about this beautiful country.

If you are interested in applying, click here. The application will get sent to the program coordinator, David Love, and the MRC director, Renee Molina. They can help you work out finances and flights.
