The AFA Crop Science Institute brings up to 75 talented college men and women together to take part in a three-day program. Students are selected through a competitive application process and have expressed a specific interest in the crop and soil sciences sector. The itinerary will provide interaction between students and crop sector leaders; expose students to area businesses and other related service providers and include discussion and training to enhance student preparation to enter careers in the agriculture industry.

AFA recognizes the diversity that makes up the crop science sector, and in an effort to expose young leaders to numerous aspects of the sector, AFA intends to rotate the location of this Institute to various locations throughout the U.S. from year to year. The 2017 Crop Science Institute will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina. Future locations will be announced at a later date.
