Geospatial Summer Fellowship Program

Program
The Geospatial Summer Fellowship Program provides students with opportunities to explore the use of geospatial information science in higher education learning. This six week online program includes hands-on GIS and remote sensing training, webinars and a course project (estimated at approximately 96 hours). Upon completion students will receive a laptop and stipend.
Fellowships
Twelve fellowships valued at $2000 will be competitively awarded to support student participation. One fellowship will be awarded to a student at each of eight Oklahoma NASA Space Grant Institutions. Four additional at-large fellows will be awarded from the pool of applicants to promote geospatial workforce development and diversity. Women and underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply.
Instructor
Participants will study under the direction of Melissa Scott, Assistant Director of Research and Education at the Center for Spatial Analysis at the University of Oklahoma.
Eligibility
Participants must:
- Be a US citizen
- Be classified as a junior as of spring semester 2015
- Major in a STEM discipline (science, technology, mathematics and engineering) OR science/math education
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Be a current student in good standing OR newly admitted for 2015 / 2016 to an Oklahoma NASA Space Grant Institution (OU, OSU, Southern Nazarene, Cameron, Langston, SOSU, SWOSU, ECU)
- Continue qualified enrollment for the 2015/2016 academic year (spring and summer 2015 graduates not eligible
