CASNR awards more than $330,000 in continuing student scholarships at annual scholarships and awards banquet
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State University College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources awarded more than $330,000 in scholarships to nearly 150 students at the annual CASNR Scholarships and Awards Banquet March 29. Others also recognized included students, faculty and staff for their accomplishments and contributions to CASNR, as well as alumni for their success in the industry.
Outstanding Senior and Freshman Awards
Megan DeVuyst from Morrison, Oklahoma, recently was named Oklahoma State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Louis and Betty Gardner 2018 CASNR Outstanding Senior. DeVuyst was recognized at the annual CASNR Scholarship and Awards banquet March 29, where the college awarded more than $330,000 in scholarships and recognized student, faculty and alumni leaders.
Cowger named CASNR outstanding freshman
Jordan Cowger from Kansas City, Missouri, recently was named Oklahoma State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Charles and Magda Browning Outstanding Freshman for 2018.
CASNR Faculty Awards
Dwayne Cartmell, associate professor in the department of agricultural education, communications and leadership at Oklahoma State University, was recognized with the Award for Excellence in Teaching at the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Scholarships and Awards Banquet March 29.
Giles honored with Excellence in Graduate Student Advising and Mentoring Award
Kris Giles, regent’s professor in the department of entomology and plant pathology at Oklahoma State University, was recognized with the Excellence in Graduate Student Advising and Mentoring Award at the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Scholarships and Awards Banquet March 29.
Udaya DeSilva, associate professor in the animal science department at Oklahoma State University, was recognized with the Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising and Mentoring at the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Scholarships and Awards Banquet on March 29.
Beatrix Haggard, assistant professor in the department of plant and soil sciences at Oklahoma State University, was recognized with the Early Career Award for Excellence in Teaching at the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Scholarships and Awards Banquet on March 29.

Oklahoma State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Alumni Board recently honored Trent McKnight of Throckmorton, Texas, as a 2018 Early Career Achievement Award winner at the 2018 CASNR Scholarships and Awards Banquet.
