Frequently Asked Questions About DASNR/OSU Statements & Disclaimers

Created 11.1.18

The Equal Employment Opportunity statement has changed. It is shorter than the previous statement. This is the correct statement to start using:

Oklahoma State University, as an equal opportunity employer, complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding non-discrimination and affirmative action. Oklahoma State University is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all individuals and does not discriminate based on race, religion, age, sex, color, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, disability, or veteran status with regard to employment, educational programs and activities, and/or admissions. For more information, visit https:///eeo.okstate.edu

When do I use the EEO and cost statement (all shown below)?

The EEO statement should be used on most documents. The EEO plusthe cost statement should be used on anything printed and distributed to the public. Examples: flyers, newsletters, brochures, informational documents, etc.

It is NOT needed on invitations to events, very small size items (business cards, for example) letterhead, post cards and promotional items like pens, coasters and plastic bags.

In what size font should the EEO statement appear?

6 point font is common, however we have used it as small as 5 point. Larger is okay if you have room.

What about websites?

We have changed all DASNR websites. If you maintain a website under the DASNR umbrella, it is compliant. However, if you have a different site, put the following statement on the main page (all other subsequent pages are covered by the main page):

Oklahoma State University, as an equal opportunity employer, complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding non-discrimination and affirmative action.  Oklahoma State University is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all individuals and does not discriminate based on race, religion, sex, color, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, disability, or veteran status with regard to employment, educational programs and activities, and/or admissions.  For more information, visit https:///eeo.okstate.edu

This publication is issued by Oklahoma State University as authorized by the Vice President for Agricultural Programs.

What about materials that are already printed?

Please do not reprint anything. Just start using this statement on any new items.

What are the different statements required for the two separate state agencies and how are they used? (For actual cost, you can get estimates from printers, or if printing on office printer, use your best judgement—usually 10 to 20 cents per page)
