When you walk into Kurtis Hair’s office, the first thing you might notice is one wall covered in album jackets. A self-proclaimed music buff from Shawnee who favors the style of Bob Dylan, his musical abilities on the guitar paved the way to a scholarship to attend Seminole State College. He later transferred to OSU where he earned his bachelor’s degree in multimedia journalism.

Music is not his only hobby. Kurtis also enjoys hockey and closely follows the Pittsburg Penguins hockey team.

While he might be one of the newest guys on the block in the Agricultural Communications Services group, he’s certainly making a name for himself as a talented videographer and reporter on the television program SUNUP. He says he loves being able to create things and is always finding a fun and interesting way to tell the stories he covers at OSU. Whether it is the devastating wildfires in northwest Oklahoma, 4-H’ers who are making a difference in their communities or showcasing the newest wheat variety developed at OSU, Kurtis is always looking for a good story to tell.

Before returning to Oklahoma, Kurtis spent some time in Coos Bay, Oregon, where he worked as a beat reporter and video producer for The World Newspaper. He and his wife, Emily, are the proud parents of their daughter, Harper.
