Oat

OKAY

Okay.jpgOkay winter oat was developed and released by the Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station in 1978.  Okay resulted from the cross Chilocco X Ora.  This cross was made for the purpose of combining the winterhardiness and high test weight of Chilocco with the short, strong straw and large grain of Ora.

Okay is a high yielding winter oat with good winterhardiness and lodging resistance.  It is medium in height and maturity, adn has some tolerance to barley yellow dwarf virus.

The early growth is semi-prostrate to slightly up-right.  Kernals are small, awnless, and plump.

NF402

NF402.jpgOat NF402 is a winter-type forage oat intended for pasture and forage production. In seven years of testing, the variety produced more total forage than most commonly grown oat varieties with nearly half of the production occurring during the fall and winter.

Oat NF402 was selected and released by the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation based on superior forage production, especially in the fall and winter, compared to standard oat cultivars.

This variety is licensed to Oklahoma Genetics, Inc. OGI is a farmer nonprofit that distributes pedigreed seed to producers in Oklahoma and surrounding states. Producers must be members of OGI in order to purchase foundation seed for OGI varieties.
